Here is the story about the powerful nap of Indian former skipper during a live ODI match.
It was the 3rd ODI of five match series against Sri Lanka, Rohit was batting on 122 and MS Dhoni on 61 when play was halted because of some late drama off-the field led to stoppage of play for nearly 35 minutes.
Why the play halted for such a long time and why the veteran Dhoni took a nap in-between a live match?
Many incidents happened in past where the crowd gets angry by the poor performance of their team, they threw empty bottles, glass or some foody things. The Same drama took place during India vs Sri Lanka 3rd One Day International.
India were cruising to a series clinching win chasing Sri Lanka’s 218, score was 210 for four after 44 overs, needing only 8 more runs to win. Suddenly the crowd got angry and started throwing empty bottles. Two umpires decided to put a halt and wait for some time till the situation becomes under control.
Here is the cutest part…
As the umpires worked towards resuming play, former India captain opted to make maximum use of this time, Dhoni decided to recharge himself by taking a short nap on the field.
After this break, India came out to bat again and chased down the target, Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 124 whereas Dhoni was not out on 67.
Milestones achieved by Dhoni
- Dhoni has equaled the record for most not-outs in ODIs with Chaminda Vaas & Shaun Pollock today with 72 unbeaten innings each.
- He went past Azhar’s tally of 9378 runs (when on 12) to become India’s fourth leading run-getter in ODIs.
